SoHo is one of my favorite New York City neighborhoods to take my clients shopping. The big streets are lined with larger chain stores, while the side streets are home to smaller boutiques and young designer shops. If you have not explored this area before, make sure to put on comfortable, but chic, walking shoes and visit the stores below.
Marni, 159 Mercer Street (Houston/Prince). Artsy and eccentric Italian label Marni offers a variety of clothes, bags, shoes, and jewelry, that all manage to include the style of a 1960s closet and today's hottest fashion.
A.P.C., 131 Mercer Street (Prince/Spring). A.P.C defines French street-chic. Their denim is a cult classic, and their cute, yet sophisticated classics work for all ages.
Uniqlo, 546 Broadway (Prince/Spring). This Japanese retail giant offers the best priced basics (jeans and merino wool sweaters both for $39.50) in a variety of styles and colors. Their occasional designer collaborations (Jil Sander, Alexander Wang) create lines down the block.
Kirna Zabete, 96 Greene Street (Prince/Spring). Find inspiration for the best curated selection of high fashion downtown. Famous houses like Balenciaga and Givenchy hang along new comers like Proenza Schouler, Giambatista Valli and Jason Wu. Prices are expectedly high, but the product is top notch.
Mango, 561 Broadway (Prince/Spring). Dig through their selection and you just might find the trendiest runway fashion each season here for under $100, but beware as the majority of the stock is filled with cheap fabrics and ill fits.
Ina, 101 Thompson Street (Prince/Spring). Designers goods from Chanel to Ralph Lauren come with a softer price tag at this upscale consignment shop. The best results here come with an open mind, as you never know what they are going to have. This is a great place to add a fun piece, you would not usually buy, to your wardrobe.
Seven New York, 110 Mercer Street (Prince/Spring). For the truly avant-garde, this multi brand boutique carries labels not found anywhere else in New York. Leather trench coats and oversized knits come from labels like Raf Simons and House of Holland. Seven is also one of the few places to find Nicholas Kirkwood shoes.
